What do you need with it?
  1. Charge controller: Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75/10 for one panel on a 12V battery installation.
  2. Solar cable: 4mm² solar cable set. The panel has a junction box with screw terminals; ensure strain relief and waterproof sealing of the connection.
  3. Battery cable and fuse: 4mm² battery cable set, 2 × 1m with 15A fuse, with the fuse close to the battery or positive busbar.
  4. Roof gland: a suitable cable gland for routing indoors.
  5. Cable management: UV-resistant adhesive mounts and cable ties.

Never connect a solar panel directly to the battery. Always use a suitable charge controller and protection.

Mounting on motorhome, boat or frame

Camper van: preferably use aluminum Z-brackets. For this compact size, we do not recommend specific plastic spoilers.

Boat: on a suitable flat deck, plastic corner brackets are a practical choice.

Measure the available space beforehand and consider roof hatches, ventilation, rails, cable routing, and the space required for mounting hardware. Carefully degrease the surface, use suitable construction adhesive and primers, and seal all penetrations waterproof.

Use with a 24V battery

A single panel does not have sufficient operating voltage for a 24V battery. Use multiple identical panels in series or choose a panel with a higher operating voltage. Always check the maximum open-circuit voltage and the limits of the MPPT charge controller.

Common mistakes
  • Connecting the panel directly to the battery.
  • Insufficient strain relief or waterproof sealing of the connection in the junction box.
  • Using a cable that is too thin or a missing fuse.
  • Combining panels with different electrical properties without verification.
  • Not accounting for shade, roof obstacles, and space for mounting.
