What else do you need?
  1. Charge controller: Victron SmartSolar MPPT 75/15 for one panel on a 12V or 24V battery system.
  2. Solar cable: 6mm², 2 × 5m with connectors.
  3. Battery cable and fuse: battery cable set 6mm², 2 × 1m with 25A fuse.
  4. Roof feed-through: choose a suitable roof feed-through for the cable route indoors.
  5. Cable management: use UV and weather-resistant adhesive mounts and cable ties.

Never connect a solar panel directly to the battery. Always use a correctly dimensioned charge controller and protection.

Mounting on a camper, boat, or frame

Panel van: preferably use aluminum Z-profiles on a ribbed or slightly curved metal roof.

Boat: plastic corner mounts are a practical choice on a suitable flat deck.

Flat camper roof or other structure: for this panel width, no suitable spoiler wider than 68 cm is available. Therefore, mount the panel with Z-profiles or corner mounts, or on a suitable frame or roof rack.

Measure the available space in advance and consider roof hatches, ventilation, rails, and mounting hardware. Carefully degrease the surface, use suitable construction sealant and primers, and seal all penetrations watertight.

Use with a 24V battery

With a Vmp of 40.1V, this panel is suitable for charging a 24V battery via a suitable MPPT charge controller. Always check the maximum open-circuit voltage, temperature margin, and charge controller settings.

Common mistakes
  • Connecting the panel directly to the battery.
  • Only paying attention to wattage and forgetting the panel voltage or Voc.
  • Using a cable that is too thin or a missing fuse.
  • Combining panels with different electrical properties without checking.
  • Not considering shade, roof obstacles, and space for mounting.
