When Roderik visited us with his unique project — a self-built expedition camper based on a 1999 Mercedes-Benz 811 — he had a clear goal: a reliable and flexible electrical system that could charge in any situation.
The camper has a separate living unit that can be removed from and reattached to the truck. Roderik wanted a compact, clear electrical solution that could be easily connected.
We assembled a Compact system for Roderik and fully mounted it on a board, configured and tested at Faraday Energy. His installation can now:
- charge via solar panels,
- charge while driving,
- and charge via shore power when the camper is at a campsite.
In addition, the system includes a small inverter (Victron Multiplus 12/500) for light 230V use — ideal for laptops, tools, or small appliances.
All wiring, fuses, and connections were neatly pre-assembled, allowing Roderik to place the board himself and directly connect it to the lighting, refrigerator, USB points, and other 12V consumers.
With this solution, he could continue his camper build with a ready-to-use energy heart — efficient, safe, and low-maintenance.
