Sikaflex®-252 Black – Construction Adhesive for Fixed Solar Panels on Campers

The sealant for securely bonding plastic spoilers or corner brackets for solar panel installations

Sikaflex®-252 is a very strong black construction adhesive widely used by DIY enthusiasts and installers for attaching fixed (glass) solar panels to campers and motorhomes. In this process, the solar panels are typically screwed into plastic spoilers or corner brackets, which are then glued to the roof with Sikaflex®-252.

This adhesive is ideal for this application thanks to its high ultimate strength, excellent adhesion to various substrates, and flexibility to absorb vibrations and movement on the road.

Use on plastic substrates: For good adhesion to plastic spoilers, corner brackets, and roofs made of ABS or similar plastic, use Sikaflex Aktivator-100 in combination with Sikaflex Primer 206 GP. First, apply the Activator using the wipe-on, wipe-off method with a clean paper cloth. Then use Primer 206 GP. Always consult the Sikaflex documentation and pretreatment table for the correct procedure; we include these with the kits.

Use on metal roofs: Do you have a metal substrate, such as a steel or aluminum roof? Then use Sikaflex Aktivator-100 in combination with Sikaflex Primer 206 GP for optimal adhesion.

Please note: Sikaflex®-252 is a construction adhesive and therefore not suitable for (semi-)flexible solar panels that are glued directly to the roof. For this, a permanently elastic, UV-resistant sealant is required (such as an MS polymer sealant).
